Got Milk? We've all seen the white mustachioed celebrities on billboards and magazine pages promoting the drinking of that wholesome dairy product. I've always thought that those that promote breast feeding for newborns should do a spin-off ad of an infant on its mother's shoulder after a fill-up and a burping with a big grin and a slogan that reads "Got Mom's Milk!"
Today is in fact a celebration of those mothers that provide for us from the beginning. They nurture us for months inside their wombs, feeding us as they feed themselves and God equips them with breast milk to continue that feeding and nurturing as infants. It's healthy stuff and it helps create a bond between that mom and child that lasts. God has equipped our mothers to be awesome.
1 Peter 2:1-3 (NIV) states ~ "Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good."
Where else can one "taste" a world free of malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander, but in their mother's arms? The Lord is good and I thank Him today AND EVERY DAY that he provided me with such an awesome mother and so many wonderful spiritual mothers who fed me with that pure spiritual milk as I grew up physically and in my faith. I thank Him today AND EVERY DAY also for providing me with a loving wife and mother for my two sons and pray that they continue to be raised up physically and in their faiths with her guidance and that of the spiritual mothers God provides them in their lives.
Happy Mother's Day all you Mothers (both physical and spiritual) out there. May God continue to bless you!
