My youngest (3-1/2) loves it when make silly noises or say silly things. He'll giggle and tell me "You Funny" to which I often reply, "No, You Funny!" and pretty soon we are locked in a near-perpetual see-saw battle of "No, You Funnies."
What does it mean to say to someone they are funny? Why do comedians crave laughter? Perhaps it is just that we enjoying making others feel good. Laughter is a feel good reaction. So when my son and I join battle in the clash of the "you funnies" we are really just telling each other, over and over, that "you bring me joy. You make me smile. You make me happy." And it is true every time I say it
